Where North to South meets East to West, the family-owned motorway service area offers a heartfelt, handmade welcome.
The Farmshop & Kitchen sits outside Douglas, about an hour north of the Border, near the intersection between the M74 and A70.
In the Kitchen, they make food from scratch as you would make it at home.
They use traditional recipes and real ingredients, including meat, fish, bread, eggs and milk from local producers.
In the Farmshop they celebrate exceptional produce and champion Scottish craftsmanship.
They work closely with a community of farmers and makers, including more than 90 in our local area and across Scotland.
Cairn Lodge Services was built in the early 1990s by entrepreneurs John and Aileen MacInnes.
They built it next to Cairn Lodge, the eighteenth-century gatehouse of the now-derelict Douglas Castle.
They are now part of the Westmorland Family, a family-run motorway services business that grew out of a Cumbrian hill farm.
Together with their sister businesses Tebay Services on the M6 and Gloucester Services on the M5, we were named the UK’s top three service stations by Which? in 2021.
When you pass through Cairn Lodge Services, you will know that you are somewhere, not anywhere. When you meet the people and discover the Scottish produce that they are so proud to share with you, they hope you will feel part of it, too.
